Mono Propylene glycol (MPG) carries Propane-1,2-diol as its IUPAC name. MPG is a liquid without colour and barely any smell; the taste, however, is relatively sweet. As is pretty common with glycols, the compound is non-irritating, and the volatility is negligible. The fluid is assessed as a diol because it consists of two alcohol groups, and the molecular formula is CH3CH(OH)CH2OH. The diol can be solvent with compounds like Acetone, chloroform, and water, making it compatible with producing polymers. This production is conducted on a large scale.

Moreover, it can have a wide range of applications in several fields. In cosmetics and pharmacology, it presents with number E490; with food application, the liquid holds the number E1520, and when it is present in propylene glycol alginate, it is known as E405. The European Union assigns these numbers.

Remain International markets MPG in several ways; nonetheless, we mainly supply to factories that produce unsaturated polyester resins, antifreeze- and deicing fluids, non-ionic detergents, hydraulic brake fluids, food industry coolants and plasticisers.
