Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) is a synthetic compound. Its actual name is 1,2-dichloroethane. EDC is a liquid free from colour with a smell resembling chloroform. It is a chlorinated hydrocarbon and is mostly used to manufacture vinyl chloride monomers like chloroethene and VCM, which are the biggest harbingers for PVC manufacturing. Moreover, the fluid is commonly used as a solvent and a transitioner for other biological compounds.
