Methyl Acetate is known under numerous other names, such as MeOAc, Methyl Ethanoate, and Acetic Acid Methyl Ester. The liquid has a distinguishable smell, as it resembles some nail polish removers and glue. MeOAc is a carboxylate ester with the formula C2H6O2. It is flammable. The liquid is solvent and resembles Ethyl Acetate; however, Methyl Acetate is less soluble in water and less toxic. This makes the ester more eligible as a solvent.
