Diethanolamine is often referred to as DEOA or DEA. The molecular formula of this biological compound is HN(CH2CH2OH)2. In pure form, DEA presents as a solid at room temperature. However, it often comes in the shape of liquid as it tends to absorb water. As a result, DEA usually presents as a liquid free from color but relatively sticky. DEA is both a diol and a secondary amine, resulting in polyfunctionality.
