Styrene monomer (SM), or vinylbenzene, ethenylbenzene or phenylethene is the molecular formula C6H5CH=CH2. SM is a biological compound that vaporises easily, is free from colour and has an oily texture. In small quantities, the odour is pleasant; however, on a larger scale, the smell could be less nice. SM is a vital component within the plastic industry. The styrene is the precursor to various copolymers and to polystyrene. The inhibitor level can be adjusted to the customers' needs for this specific product (P-TBC).
