Methyl isobutyl ketone, commonly abbreviated to MIBK, is a biological compound. It presents itself in a liquid state and is free from colour. MIBK is a ketone with formula (CH3)2CHCH2C(O)CH3. The fluid is commonly used as a solvent for resins, paints, lacquers, varnishes, nitrocellulose and gum.
