Methyl acrylate (MA) is a liquid free from colour and with a classic acrid smell. The compound is biological but can more precisely be defined as the methyl ester of acrylic acid. Often it is manufactured in order to create acrylate fibre. Acrylate fibre is being used in weaving carpets made with synthetic fabrics. Moreover, in the fusion of numerous pharmaceutical intermediates, it serves as a reagent.
