Isobutyl Alcohol, also known as Isobutanol, is a biological compound that is free from colour. The compound presents in liquid form, has a characteristic smell and is mainly used as a solvent. This is done either as its esters or directly. The formula is (CH3)2CHCH2OH. However, at times it is represented as i-BuOH. The other butanols, their isomers, include important components for the industry; butanols include 2-butanol, n-butanol and tert-butanol.
