Acetone, also known as propanone, has the formula (CH3)2CO. The biological compound is a small ketone and is miscible with water. Acetone is a liquid that is combustible, volatile and free from colour. Moreover, the liquid has a sharp and pungent smell. Propanone is a vital element within laboratories, the industry and even at home.
In households, occasionally Acetone is being used. More specifically, in personal care products and cosmetics, but most often in nail polish remover. Furthermore, in the industry propanone is regularly used as a solvent to manufacture industrial products and plastics.
